About Lori Hill CD (DONA), LCCE
I live in Williamsburg, VA and I am the wife of a recently retired Marine who was on active duty for 26 years, and together we have four children: 25, 21, and two 17 year olds. My husband and daughters have been the focus of my life. I worked in marketing for a major telecommunications company for years, but I had always yearned for something more fulfilling, and when I heard about doulas through other Marine wives it sounded like a perfect match. I am a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International, and have helped over 50 families with the birth of their babies. I can describe being a doula as finally figuring out what I want to be when I grow up! I also am a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, and enjoy teaching about all aspects of labor and birth, so women can approach birth with more knowledge, and make the decisions that are right for their family. In addition, I sit on the DONA International Board of Directors as the Director of Public Relations, and am a Student Midwife. In short....childbirth is my passion!
As I move along on my path to becoming a midwife, I am now working toward a midwifery apprenticeship. My Philosophy as a Doula
I believe that labor and birth is a normal and natural process. My goal for labors and deliveries is to assist couples reach the goal that you want for your delivery. I do not impose my own beliefs on parents, but use my training and expertise as a doula to guide you through the maze of childbirth. I believe that childbirth is a life changing experience, and I do all that I can to ensure that the parents' memories of this important event are positive.
My Birth Doula Services
My birth doula services are available to women and their partners in Williamsburg, VA and include:
- 1-3 pre-natal visits (this depends on how early in the pregnancy I am retained)
- Educational birth and pregnancy information, resources and referrals, including a lending library of books, DVD's and CD's
- Help in identifying your most important birth wishes
- Constant support through labor - beginning at home if desired and as labor progresses
- Help create a calm, peaceful and supportive birthing environment for mom and partner
- Remain with you and continue to support you 1-2 hours after the birth
- Initial breastfeeding help
- 1 postpartum visit in which the birth experience is discussed and processed and any questions are answered
- Unlimited phone consultations throughout pregnancy and postpartum
- 24 hour on-call availability surrounding the month of your due date

Birth Doula Fees
$500 for full suite of services
I recognize that this fee can truly be a financial hardship for some. If this is the case for you, but you are in need of a doula, please contact me and we can discuss options.
